healthy blueberry jam using chia seeds
healthy blueberry jam is an easy, delicious and nutritious recipe to substitute for a typical jam. it is perfect to have on it's own, on toast and added to breakfast bowls.
- 2 cups frozen blueberries or other frozen fruit
- 2 tbsp chia seeds
- 2 tbsp maple syrup
- ½ lemon juice optional
put a saucepan over medium heat and add in the frozen blueberries
add ½ lemon squeeze, if desired
add the maple syrup and chia seeds, mix until fully combined
after the fruit softens, lower to simmer. consistently stir and mash the fruit to break it down
cook until the mixture becomes a jam-like texture. let cool slightly and pour into a mason jar to store.
