Whipped Chocolate Frosting Recipe

This Whipped Chocolate Frosting is perfect on top of either chocolate or vanilla cakes. it's rich, decadent and absolutely delicious while also being easy to make.

Ingredients
 

  • 1 cup salted butter, softened
  • 2/3 cup cocoa powder
  • 2 1/2 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/3 cup milk
  • 2 tsp vanilla extract

Instructions
 

  • in a large mixing bowl, add the cocoa powder. whisk to remove any large clumps
  • add in the softened butter and whisk until fully combined (you can also use a hand mixer on the lowest speed)
  • measure 1 cup of the powdered sugar and add it to the bowl and give it a light mix
  • add the remaining powdered sugar, milk and vanilla extract. whisk until fully combined
  • if the mixture is too thick, continue to add 1/2 tbsp of milk until it reaches the desired consistency
  • enjoy on top of cake or cupcakes, like these gluten free chocolate cupcakes
