These Dark Chocolate Chip Cookies topped with sea salt flakes are the absolute BEST! They're indulgent and delicious without being too heavy. Using classic chocolate chip cookie ingredients, the edges are crisp with a gooey and soft center.
- 1 cup salted butter, softened
- 1 cup white granulated sugar
- 1 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 2 tsp pure vanilla extract
- 2 large eggs
- 3 cups all purpose flour, or gluten-free all purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/2 tsp baking powder
- 1 cup dark chocolate chunks/chips, plus extra for topping
- sea salt flakes, for topping
Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and line a baking pan with parchment paper and set aside
In a large mixing bowl, add in your softened butter and sugar
Cream together with a hand or stand mixer until fully combined
Beat in the eggs and vanilla until fluffy
Add in the flour, baking soda and baking powder (incorporate slowly, mixing in a little bit at a time)
Fold in the chocolate chips/chunks until mixed evenly throughout the batter
Scoop about 2 tbsp of dough at a time. Roll into equal-sized balls if not using a cookie dough scooper
Place on the parchment paper, evenly spaced about 1-2 inches apart (I usually bake 6-8 cookies per tray, one tray at a time)
Bake for 8-10 minutes until the edges are golden but not a dark brown
Immediately, add the flake sea salt on top of each cookie once removed from the oven
Let the cookies sit on the tray for 10 minutes before transferring to a cooling rack
Enjoy!
