Challah Dinner Rolls

Yield: 9 rolls
These Challah Dinner Rolls are a MUST make. Not only are they incredibly easy to make, they are beyond delicious. The texture is fluffy while also being slightly dense in a satisfying way.

Ingredients
 

  • 1 1/2 tsp instant dry yeast
  • 1/4 cup whole milk, warm
  • 1 cup water, warm
  • 3 tbsp granulated sugar
  • 3 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 egg yolk
  • 3 1/3 cup all purpose flour, or bread flour
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 2 tsp baking salt

Egg Wash

  • 1 large egg, scrambled in separate bowl

Instructions
 

  • To a large mixing bowl, add the warm water and instant dry yeast
  • Mix until yeast is dissolved and bubbles appear on the surface
  • Whisk in the warm milk
  • Add the olive oil, eggs and granulated sugar
  • Whisk again
  • Fold in the flour, baking powder and salt
  • You should be able to press the dough with your finger without it sticking. If it sticks, add an additional tbsp of flour until this happens
  • Rest the dough in the bowl for 1 hour covered with a kitchen towel at room temperature
  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees F and grease a 9x9 square baking pan with nonstick spray or butter
  • Pull about 2-3 tbsp of dough and form into balls
  • Add the rolls to the baking pan
  • Once complete, rest the rolls for 30 minutes (covered)
  • Brush the rolls with an egg wash
  • Bake for 28-33 minutes or until the tops and edges of the rolls are golden
  • Let cool for about 10-20 minutes
  • Enjoy!
