Protein Cinnamon Roll topped with a vanilla cream cheese frosting.

One Protein Cinnamon Roll

This fluffy and gooey Protein Cinnamon Roll is a great way to start your day. The dough is made with greek yogurt for a great source of protein and nutritional benefits. But most importantly, it is delicious!

Ingredients
 

Dough Ingredients

  • 1/3 cup All Purpose Flour
  • 1/2 tsp Baking Powder
  • 1/4 cup Plain Greek Yogurt, 2% or 5%
  • 1/2 tbsp Maple Syrup

Filling Ingredients

  • 1 tbsp Salted Butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1 tbsp Dark Brown Sugar, packed
  • 1/4 tsp Ground Cinnamon

Vanilla Cream Cheese Frosting

  • 1 oz Plain Cream Cheese, softened to room temperature
  • 1 tbsp Salted Butter, softened to room temperature
  • 1/4 cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract

Instructions
 

  • Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F
  • Melt the butter for the filling and set aside to cool
  • In a small bowl, combine the dark brown sugar and ground cinnamon using a fork. Set aside
  • To a mixing bowl, add all of the dough ingredients
  • Combine until you can form the dough into a ball (You should be able to press your finger into the dough without it sticking)
  • If your finger is sticking to the dough add 1 tsp of flour until you're able to press your finger into the ball of dough without it sticking
  • Flour your surface to roll out the dough
  • Roll the dough out into a rectangle and and brush with the melted butter
  • Add the brown sugar cinnamon mixture on top, gently pressing it down with your fingers
  • Using a pizza cutter or knife, cut off the ends of each side to make straight edges
  • Cut the dough into two strips
  • Roll one strip tightly into a cinnamon roll then place it on the other strip to roll again into a larger cinnamon roll
  • Place into a small, greased ramekin or oven safe-bowl
  • (Optional) Brush the top and sides with any remaining melted butter
  • Bake for 28-30 minutes or until cinnamon roll has risen with the edges golden
  • While the cinnamon roll bakes, make the frosting
  • In a mixing bowl, combined the softened butter and cream cheese using an electric hand mixer
  • Add the vanilla and powdered sugar until it is fully combined. (If you would like the frosting to be thicker add 1-2 tbsp of powdered sugar)
  • Once the cinnamon roll is baked, let it sit in the dish for 5-10 minutes
  • Remove from the dish and top with the frosting
  • Enjoy!
