One Protein Cinnamon Roll Recipe

However, the star of this recipe is the iconic cinnamon sugar filling to help create the gooey center of a cinnamon roll that we all know and love.

It’s a cinnamon roll. I mean…who doesn’t love a good cinnamon roll? Especially one that you don’t have to share!
The flavor and texture. A gooey center (my favorite part) with perfectly fluffy dough. Topped with a smooth and creamy vanilla cream cheese frosting for the ultimate bite.
It’s (kind of) healthy! The dough is made with greek yogurt for some added protein. While this recipe is still it treat, it adds some nutritional value.
How to Make One Protein Cinnamon Roll
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F
- Melt the butter for the filling and set aside to cool
- In a small bowl, combine the dark brown sugar and ground cinnamon using a fork. Set aside
- To a mixing bowl, add all of the dough ingredients
- Combine until you can form the dough into a ball (You should be able to press your finger into the dough without it sticking)
- If your finger is sticking to the dough add 1 tsp of flour until you’re able to press your finger into the ball of dough without it sticking
- Flour your surface to roll out the dough
- Roll the dough out into a rectangle and and brush with the melted butter
- Add the brown sugar cinnamon mixture on top, gently pressing it down with your fingers
- Using a pizza cutter or knife, cut off the ends of each side to make straight edges
- Cut the dough into two strips
- Roll one strip into a cinnamon roll then place it on the other strip to roll into a large cinnamon roll
- Place into a greased ramekin or oven safe-bowl
- (Optional) Brush the top and sides with any remaining melted butter
- Bake for 28-30 minutes or until cinnamon roll has risen with the edges golden
- While the cinnamon roll bakes, make the frosting
- In a mixing bowl, combined the softened butter and cream cheese using an electric hand mixer
- Add the vanilla and powdered sugar until it is fully combined. (If you would like the frosting to be thicker add 1-2 tbsp of powdered sugar)
- Once the cinnamon roll is baked, let it sit in the dish for 5-10 minutes
- Remove from the dish and top with the frosting
- Enjoy!

Yes, swap the regular flour for Gluten Free All Purpose Flour at a 1:1 ratio.
You want it to be a rectangle shape. It should be about 4-5 inches wide and 10-12 inches long.
The cinnamon roll should rise and spread to fill out more of the small ramekin or oven-safe dish. The edges and tops will also be slightly golden. However, the center should look gooey and not dry.
I have not tested this recipe with more than one cinnamon roll. However, if you do multiply the recipe to make more than one, it should work just fine!
Store in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. When ready to enjoy, heat in the microwave for 30 second increments until warmed to your liking.

- 1/2 tbsp Maple Syrup

- 1 tbsp Dark Brown Sugar, packed
- 1/4 tsp Ground Cinnamon
Vanilla Cream Cheese Frosting
- 1 oz Plain Cream Cheese, softened to room temperature
- 1 tbsp Salted Butter, softened to room temperature
- 1/4 cup Powdered Sugar
- 1/2 tsp Vanilla Extract
