Ingredient Notes

  • Almond Milk, Coconut Water or Liquid of Choice – Pretty much any liquid will work. Sometimes I even use regular water and the smoothie is still delicious without adding any additional flavors or calories.
  • Banana, Frozen – I will freeze bananas in aluminum foil to always have on hand for a smoothie.
  • Pineapple Chunks, Frozen – No particular brand, I just use what I can find at my local grocery store.
  • Protein Powder (Pineapple) or Unflavored Protein Powder – You can use your favorite protein brand, just make sure to use one with a flavor that will taste good with the pineapple and coconut.
  • (Optional) Ground Ginger – Adds a little extra tang to the smoothie as well as health benefits!

Tips and Tricks

The process. There are a few things you should always do when making smoothies.

First, you want to always add the liquid to the blender first, before any other ingredients.

This will help the blades mix everything more efficiently.

The Flavor. Making a smoothie is easy but use high quality ingredients!

You want to make sure you are using a protein powder that you like and that has good flavor.

The protein powder should enhance the Pina Colada flavor not detract from it.

The Perfect Pour. It all comes down to the thickness and texture of the smoothie.

When making a smoothie, it is always best to use frozen fruit. This will help create a creamier texture.

Lastly, using enough but not too much liquid.
