Is there a different between baking with granulated sugar and honey?
Yes! While both add sweetness to a recipe, they can have different effects when baking.
First, let’s talk measurements.
For every one cup of granulated sugar you would use only 2/3 cup of honey.
In this recipe I used both granulated sugar and honey. I like the crumb that granulated sugar creates when baking a cake.
However, the addition of the honey adds moistness and a delicious flavor to the cake.
How to Make Berry Cake with Honey
- Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F
- Start by combining your wet ingredients in a large mixing bowl using a hand mixer
- Fold in the dry ingredients until just combined
- Pour the batter into a lined 8×8 square pan that is greased or lined with parchment paper
- Bake for 20-24 minutes or until a toothpick comes out of the center clean
- Let the cake cool and make the Honey Glaze
- Once the cake has cooled completely, top with the glaze and fresh berries
