What is Dubai Chocolate?
The Viral Dubai Chocolate is a chocolate bar filled with a creamy pistachio paste and crispy shredded phyllo pastry, also known as knafeh.
This ingredient combination creates contrasting textures in each bite.
However, the flavors are also delicious.
The flavors are influenced by Middle Eastern cuisine. The rich pistachio stands out even when paired with the chocolate.
While this specific recipe doesn’t use the shredded phyllo pastry (knafeh), you could add it in.
To do so, lightly crisp the knafeh in a pan on low before incorporating it with the pistachio cream. This will add another layer of texture and flavor to this delicious treat!
How to Make Dubai Chocolate Strawberries
- Clean the strawberries and set aside to dry completely
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper
- Add about 1/3 to 1/2 cup of the pistachio butter to a slim, deep bowl or ramekin. You don’t want it to be too shallow for dipping the strawberries
- If needed, dry the strawberries with a paper towel if wet
- Take the top of the strawberry and dip it into the pistachio butter. All sides should be coated
- Let excess pistachio drip off
- Place on the parchment paper
- Repeat until all strawberries are coated
- Put in the freezer for 30 minutes
- When it’s been almost 30 minutes, prepare the chocolate
- In a microwave-safe dish, add the chocolate chips and oil
- Melt in the microwave for 30 second increments, mixing in between each until there are no clumps of chocolate
- Remove the strawberries from the freezer
- Holding the strawberry from the top, dip into the melted chocolate. You may also want to use a spoon to coat the chocolate around the entire strawberry
- Place the strawberry back on the parchment paper
- (Optional) Top with sea salt flakes
- Repeat until all the strawberries are coated in chocolate
- Place the baking sheet back in the freezer for another 30 minutes
- Enjoy!
Frequently Asked Questions
Yes! Any brand will work, even homemade pistachio butter works for this recipe.
These Ghirardelli Baking Chips are great! However, I’ve also bought Trader Joe’s Chocolate Chips for such a reasonable price and they work for melting as well.
Store in an airtight, freezer-safe container in the freezer for up to 7 days for ultimate freshness. If you keep them in the fridge, the pistachio butter will soften too much.
