Tips and Tricks

Cream Cheese. Is the key to getting this spread to be the perfect texture.

The cream cheese thickens the whipped goat cheese while also making it easy to pipe on the crostinis.

The Goat Cheese. What to use and why.

For this recipe, make sure you buy a log of goat cheese and not crumbles. The crumbles have additives and won’t create a creamy texture like the log style goat cheese will.

Less is more. Simple flavors pair best with goat cheese.

The honey, fresh basil and blackberries add the perfect touch of sweetness and dimension to the dish.

However, feel free to get creative with different flavor profiles.

Frequently Asked Questions

Do I have to use the cream cheese in this recipe?

Yes, this is what thickens the mixture to be able to pipe it on to the crostini/bread. Without it the whipped goat cheese will be too thin.

What is the best goat cheese to use?

Don’t buy crumbled goat cheese. Use a log style goat cheese as this will create a creamier texture.

Do I have to pipe the goat cheese on the crostini?

Nope! You can use a spoon or knife to easily spread it on to the crostini or bread of choice.

Can I make this recipe ahead of time?

You can! Prepare the whipped goat cheese up to 3 days prior to serving. When ready to serve, transfer the goat cheese mixture to a piping bag and prepare as instructed.

How do I store leftover crostini?

If possible, store the goat cheese mixture separately in an airtight container in the fridge. When ready to serve, add on top of fresh bread/crostini with toppings.
